Step 2: Transfer the Image

After I've gotten the image down onto the backside of the ugly wrapping paper I have to take a big girl pill. This is where that patience comes in. In order to transfer the image from the wrapping paper over to the playmat you must use a pencil and cover the entire backside of the paper with graphite. This will allow it to transfer, and it will also get all over your hands, and sometimes even your table! Yay!

After you've done your crying, line the play mat up with the scribbled bit of paper with the uber-graphited side down, grab a pen, and then trace around all of the lines of your drawing. Be sure to use a bit of pressure to get a good indentation, but try not to push down too hard, because you don't want ink pen to get onto the playmat. It will make the coloring process a huge pain in the butt. (Of course, I learned this the hard way!)

It should look something like the picture below. It won't be a very dark imprint, but that's okay! We'll work on it!
