In this video I discuss a few different things, but these are the show notes.

  • Fiverr.com- go into Advertising, and see the wealth of opportunities to get your info out into the world.

  • Brochures- When I go to any kind of show where I will be accepting commissions, I have brochures with me. I will also be creating a form on here soon that will allow people to order a commission through the website. Here is a link to a brochure template that I've used before. This will open up a download straight from the OpenOffice website.

  • Business Cards- I have designed my own business cards, but if you aren't great with computer based design, you can hire those sorts of services out. I've seen people selling this service everywhere from Fiverr.com to Etsy.com. Do some research and find an artist that you like. I've used VistaPrint to print my cards in the past. You can't beat their coupons, and they ship FAST!

  • "Elevator Speech"- An elevator pitch, elevator speech, or elevator statement is a short summary used to quickly and simply define a person, profession, product, service, organization or event and its value proposition. This should be done in the time it takes to ride an elevator, so between 30-200 seconds. This allows you to talk to a lot of people at a show, and try to draw each on in. Look them in the eye (but not agressively) and sell your work.

  • Keeping your commissions organized- When you get a TON of commissions at once, I've found it helpful to number the corner of the brochure they've filled out so that you can do them in order of when they've been taken (and paid for!) I recommend against doing commission work without payment up front, or at least a deposit.

  • "However you imagine your success to be"- Be specific with yourself about what you will need in order to thing of yourself as "Successful."

Leave a comment or question HERE for me. I'll get back to you quickly, I swear!
